One Room Challenge: Spring 2017: Blog Post Five

Here we are: Week Five of the One Room Challenge.  I really can't believe all that I have packed into this crazy ORC: a baby, a room re-do... all on a few hours of sleep. I'm so glad that I did it, but boy-oh-boy I am absolutely exhausted.

I totally waxed and waned over weather or not to purchase the final detail in the room: the rug.  I had a sisal rug that would have worked perfectly fine (**not really: it had stains on it, was very rough to the touch and not at all comfortable to walk on**) but because I have been in the thick of sleepless nights, I did not want to run out to shop for one.

So I headed to the Online Sources for my little rug... which really made me nervous.  But I relied on customer reviews and did a lot of scouring on the internet.

Here were some options:

Safavieh Montauk Collection - (I ultimately decided this would be too much blue in the room.  If the 9 x 12 Ivory Rug had been in stock, I would have gone for it!)

This is also a Safavieh Rug, called the Maison Textured Wool Rug. (I didn't end up going with this because the Moroccan look is everywhere and I felt like I would get tired of it quickly.)

I also liked this Safavieh Delmont Rug. (But ultimately decided against it because I thought the pattern was too large - I think I would've gone for it if the shapes were smaller.)

I finally found this Safavieh Sumner Area Rug and went for it.  The circles and squares reminded me of Nautical details and the color was just right.

A rug can be a pretty large expense when re-doing a room (and I really do think you should spring for a 'better' quality rug because inexpensive ones really do fall apart quicker,) but this rug has literally made the space.

The color compliments but does not overwhelm the rest of the room, and the pattern adds a soft graphic touch.

Plus online ordering makes it so easy: good old Target had the rug here in four business days! (Again: just be sure to really read the reviews since you can't touch or see the rug in person, and shipping back a rug is a major PAIN!)

Woven in Vintage let take my pick of some of their beautiful textiles for the room.  I of course loved all the blue pillows.

Lance, (the owner of Woven in Vintage) also dropped off some really amazing small rugs for me to try out in the space.  When I style the room for the photoshoot for next week, I will try the rugs out and incorporate one or two!

I'm so glad the floors are dressed and looking sharp and the pillows are finally complete! Till next week everyone: I am happy to see it all come together...
