Laundry Room Re-do: Fresh Paint makes all the difference!

Our laundry room was perfectly terrifying: covered in a burgundy  plaid, dizzy-making wallpaper.  It made the chore of doing laundry even worse because the room was my absolute least favorite in our home.

It truly is amazing what a little paint can do for a room: I spent about $200 on improvements (paint, fabric, woodgrain crafting tools,) and our Laundry Room now has an entirely different feeling.

Before: (well, with a coat of primer half way completed on the wallpaper!) You can see how it was dark, lots of plaid, and very masculine. I knew the space could be fun and cheery: so I hit the paint store!

Now: it is fun, cheery, and vibrant.  Whatever season it is outside, I know the paint color, Sherwin William's Pale Moss (a nod to my Savannah roots,) will be invigorating and mood brightening.

The Roman Shade was made from a remnant piece of Tilton Fenwick's fabric line for Duralee in the Zulla Fabric in the Lapis Colorway.

My cousin, Bob Christian, created an amazing mural in a child hood friend's home.  It has inspired me over the years and lead to the creation of this Kumquat Tree.  The wall was vacant and bare without the tree, and it was a great, unexpected addition my husband did not fully get on board with until it was all finished.

The Rug is from RugsUsa here

I painted the Grout around the floor tile (this was quite tedious, and I can not recommend doing it) Sherwin Williams' 7055 Enduring Bronze.

One of my all time favorite artists is Polly Jones, and I immediately fell for this little pastoral landscape of hers when she posted it to her Etsy Shop

The formica countertops were drab and dull.  I opted for a faux bois look that was unexpected.  I painted the first layer in Sherwin Williams 6760 Rivulet and used the woodgraining tool to make the wood with a wet coat of Sherwin Williams 9051 Aquaverde.

I'm crazy about this pair of Blue Toned Abstracts from Christina Baker and thrilled to own two of her 'bitty' pieces.  The plates are French Metal Picnic Plates my Mother in Law gave us.

I sprayed the silver knobs with a Bronze Spray paint picked up at the local Five & Dime.

Sort of willing to launder now.

I'm wearing earrings from the sweetest, most talented potter, Susan Gordon.
